LIVING ON TRAIN TRACKS
Calcutta is one of the largest and poorest cities in India with over 15 million inhabitants. From the region, crowds of people flock to Calcutta in search of work. Due to the scarcity of space, people are forced to occupy every piece of land. Whole districts were created right next to the railway where families live in self-made houses. Community life takes place on the track where every 10-20 minutes a train rushes through and life pauses for a brief moment.
